Hello! So happy we found each other! My name is Megan Alam and I am the owner of Sage Birth Services. For the past 10 years my business was focused on providing birth and postpartum doula support through Divine Mother Doula Service. My practice has expanded in many ways since 2014 and thus decided to rebrand and expand my offered services to also include childbirth education.
A little about me. I am married to my best friend and together we have 3 wonderful children. Our youngest just turned a year old. All 3 were born at home in the water utilizing an incredible midwife. I began my journey into birth work after my first daughter was born in 2013. After forging my own path, birthing my baby the way I needed to with a supportive team around me, I knew that other women needed this same kind of support. Stories always circulate of consent being taken away during labor, birthing people's needs ignored, protocols failing and being blamed on birthing people's bodies, dangerous power dynamics between caregivers and patients...and so much more. These systemic issues need addressing, and birth workers are on the front lines. It was time that I joined in to help empower families to forge their own path without fear. Empowered people empower people.
Sage Birth Services is here to support ALL families in their beautiful diversity. I work for YOU, not another entity such as a hospital with rules and restrictions. During our time together we will build our trust of each other and get on the same page as to how you want your birth to look. After defining that vision, we can create a plan of support that will be uniquely tailored to you and your family. There is no one solution to every obstacle in birth - we need personalized care and education.
